Long Term Residential Parent and Parenting Women's Program

Casita del Rio is a specialized long term program offering an all women's residence where mother's can keep their young children with them, reunify while in treatment or work towards a clean and sobor delivery.

- Women at Casita del Rio recieve treatment for their chemical dependency and are able to keep their babies or up to two other children under the age of six with them.

- Our aim is to provide a healthy life style and chemical free enviroment for women and their children while learning new coping and parenting skills. Handling and enjoying recreational situations without the use of alcohol and drug is emphasized.

- Women may enter treatment at Casita del Rio at any time during their pregnancy. Women are also eligible for treatment if they are actively parenting children under age six or if they are seeking return of the children under age six from protective custody (DCFS).

- Therapy for chemical dependency is on an ongoing part of living at Casita del Rio, as well as education and training for parenting and other life skills. Clients also recieve referrals to other community agencies for dental, medical, and mental health.

Answers to commonly asked questions about Casita del Rio

- The facility is tabacco free.

- Up to two siblings may live at Casita del Rio (six years old and under). Accommodations depend on available room.

- Children may leave Casita del Rio with their dad, grandparents, aunts, ect. This is arraigned with the children's program manager. We encourage appropriate family involvement.

- There is an initial seven day therapeutic focus period.

- There is shared living space assigned by individual need.

- The treatment modality at Casita del Rio is based on the 12 step model "Minnesota" model with emphasis on spiritual recovery and behavior changes. This is reinforced by the 12 step recovery process of Alcoholics Anonymous.
