The winter cold is upon us!! We are hosting our annual donation drive for winter backpacks for the homeless. Last year was a success and we are hoping to do just as well this year!
Here is the plan:
We will be collecting donations (see list below) to fill 50 backpacks by December 16th, 2018. You could also donate cash to help with the purchase of the backpacks and any other items we end up needing to complete the project.
Think of it like this—a donation of $8 cash provides one backpack which can be filled with items to help one person in need!!

Next time you are at the store, maybe pick up a few extra items from the list to donate. Or if you have some extra items at home (new or washed/ in very good condition) you could bring those. Every little bit will go a long way towards helping someone survive this winter!

Knit/fleece winter hats—neutral colors
Knit/fleece winter scarves, gloves
Warm thick/winter socks
Shampoo/Conditioner, Soaps
Deodorant
Chapstick
Tylenol or Advil
Toilet Paper
Feminine Hygiene Products (small packs of tampons or sanitary napkins)
Wipes (soft-packaged but re-closeable)
Hand Sanitizer
Toothbrush/Toothpaste
Combs/Brushes
Nail clippers
Fleece Blankets
Large Plastic (garbage) bags
Quart size Ziploc bags
Re-usable water bottles
Can openers, Plastic Utensils
Non-perishable, individually wrapped foods (cheese and crackers, granola bars, protein bars, beef jerky, etc.)
Other Useful Items:
Bus passes
Gift cards to stores or restaurants so they can buy food items or hot coffee.
What a great opportunity for all of us to bring a little help, hope, and Holiday Spirit
to the homeless in our community!
