Steps to Recovery: A Joyful Celebration of Progress

On September 8, Miller Park in Yakima was alive with energy and hope as 70 people gathered for the Steps to Recovery event. Together, they celebrated an astounding 65,563 days in recovery (not counting leap years!). This heartwarming event was organized by Dianna Keith, members of Yakima Recovery Events, and Triumph Treatment Services.

The community came out in full force to show their support. Among the attendees were local counselors, the City of Yakima Mayor Patricia Byers, and Yakima Interim Police Chief Shawn Boyle. Their presence underscored the importance of community in the journey to recovery.

This event, which mirrors the national “Recovery Walk” held in Washington DC on September 5th, is a testament to the strength and resilience of individuals overcoming substance use. Participants walked a loop through downtown Yakima, proudly chanting “We Do Recover” to passing cars, spreading the powerful message that recovery is possible.

Triumph Treatment Services was proud to sponsor this joyous occasion in collaboration with Yakima Recovery Events. This wonderful non-profit is dedicated to organizing substance-free, family-oriented activities in Yakima, providing a safe and fun space for those in recovery to celebrate holidays and connect with others who share similar experiences.
