Tiffany Hansen’s story is one of strength, transformation, and a deep desire to help others. After struggling with substance use and facing difficult experiences, Tiffany, a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) at Triumph, has become a beacon of hope for people dealing with similar challenges. Her journey illustrates the transformative power of recovery and the importance of support from others.
For 20 years, Tiffany fought against her addiction. Her troubles began in childhood, when she faced trauma that led to years of suffering. Caught in a cycle of drug use and incarceration, her life changed dramatically when she became pregnant for the first time while still using drugs. This moment made her realize that she needed to change her life for the sake of her child.
During her darkest moments, Tiffany reached out to Child Protective Services (CPS), and her social worker offered her a glimmer of hope that she could get treatment and keep her child with her. This was a pivotal turning point for Tiffany, as she realized that her love for her child could motivate her to strive for a better life.
The road to recovery was not easy. Tiffany began treatment at Triumph, which she described as the hardest decision she had ever made. She had to work on her self-identity, social skills, and the emotional pain from her past. This meant confronting difficult memories and learning to cope without resorting to her old habits. Through therapy and support, Tiffany began to gain a deeper understanding of herself and establish a stronger foundation for her future.
“I had never truly faced or healed from my trauma. For twenty years, I ran from it and suffered in silence. But now, I get to live life in a meaningful, intentional way,” she said.
Going through treatment was challenging. Tiffany often felt isolated and struggled to connect with other women. Even after making progress, she faced setbacks, including temporarily losing her child, which truly tested her strength. However, Tiffany refused to give up. She learned how to manage her emotions, seek help, and establish a routine in her life.
“Triumph was the light that emerged from a very dark place. It became my saving grace—an opportunity that taught me how to live a new life as a mother, and so much more. Through Triumph’s group therapies and educational lectures, I learned skills I never knew I needed,” stated Tiffany.
As Tiffany reflected on her experiences and the support she received at Triumph, she discovered her calling. Inspired by her counselor, who had faced similar struggles, Tiffany felt a strong desire to help others, just as she had been helped. This inspiration led her to pursue an associate degree in substance use disorder counseling.
Now, as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), Tiffany embodies the change she has undergone. In her work, she treats her clients with empathy and understanding, always maintaining a non-judgmental attitude. Each day, she draws on her own experiences to inspire those still battling substance use. Tiffany’s story is not just about her recovery; it’s about creating hope for others and demonstrating that healing is possible.
“Triumph was the foundation of my transformation—a starting point for a new life,” said Tiffany.
Her journey serves as a reminder that even in the most challenging times, there is a path to recovery, reconnection, and fulfillment. Her life powerfully exemplifies how vulnerability can lead to strength and how community support can make a significant difference. Through her work, Tiffany is changing lives, proving that with determination and kindness, anyone can overcome even the most difficult obstacles.
