Theraplay makes parent-child therapy fun

Rachel Carr, Parent-Child Assistance Case Manager at Triumph.

Triumph would like to give a big shout-out to PCAP case manager Rachel Carr and PCAP Clinical Director Kim Hitchcock for integrating Theraplay into their classes for women and children!

Kim Hitchcock says, “It is a privilege to see play as a component of treatment for mothers who may have grown up with little experience with play, and to see them learn how to be present. It is deceptively simple and brilliantly effective in healing attachment bonds.”

Strong attachment between a child and the important adults in their life has long been believed to be the basis of lifelong good mental health. According to the Theraplay Institute in Chicago, this mode of child and family therapy has been recognized by the Association of Play Therapy as one of seven seminal psychotherapies for children.

Triumph is the only care provider in Central Washington currently offering this engaging and nurturing method of therapy. Theraplay classes expand Triumph’s toolbox as we seek innovative ways to care for our clients and their families.
