Local Church Asks: “What can we do to help?”

Yakima’s Stone Church has been supporting Triumph for more than 11 years. 

Located just up the street from Triumph’s Campus, members of the church took note of the women with strollers walking to services each week.  Dusty Kissel, the outreach director for Stone’s Yakima campus, remembers that time. “We thought about those women and children and wondered what we could do to help and get involved. Since then, we’ve been willing to help in any way that is needed”.

Over the years, various individuals and small groups from Stone Church have hosted game nights and pumpkin painting parties; set up a cornhole competition at the James Oldham Treatment Center (JOTC) in Buena; organized a Christmas present drive to benefit Triumph families over the holidays; and have collected a special Christmas Eve offering from congregation members that was donated to Triumph to help support the Early Learning Center at Triumph’s Genesis Building, the men’s facility kitchen, and activities at the JOTC including a new basketball court!

Kristin Anglin, a Substance Use Disorder Trainee at Triumph helps to counsel and support clients every day in Triumph’s outpatient clinic in downtown Yakima. She says “Stone Church has been a pivotal support for my recovery.  When I was only a month into my recovery journey, the congregation surrounded me, welcomed me, and inspired me to follow Christ and look to help others.  With Stone Church’s partnership, my son was able to have a Christmas.” 

Stone Church leadership and members alike share their joy to see the transformations of those who have chosen hope and a new life. We are so grateful for the countless hours they have given and the generous gifts of their members to help serve and unite families together with Triumph.
